Urban Legends Essay

Have you ever wondered what an urban legend is? Well, an urban legend is a story that’s meant to be true but most times aren’t. Most urban legends come from a true story changed around to become more interesting. While there are many urban legends I will be addressing fully octopi’d, the origin of aids and progesterex and cons.

The first urban legend that I will be addressing is fully octopi’d. A woman claimed that she gave birth to an octopus. The woman took x-rays and they found that she had a tumor. When a surgery was performed to take out the tumor instead a small octopus was taken out. Many later found out that it wasn’t true. They believed it was humanly impossible.

The second urban legend is where Aids’ originated from. Strong allegations were made about the CIA creating Aids’. Most thought this was true because the disease came from nowhere and hit the country. These allegations came to be proven to be wrong. Scientists agreed that the virus jumps from species’. While others say Aids’ came from tainted blood. Either way studies show that Aids’ isn’t a government created virus.

Progesterex and cons are the last urban legend. It’s a drug called progesterex that date rappers use to sterilize the victims and prevent identity through paternity test. This urban legend is false. First off, the drug progesterex doesn’t exist. Secondly, no pill can make it so that the identity isn’t known. This story was actually sent through via e-mail. Fact this isn’t true.

The three urban legends I addressed are things that people believe are true. The next time a story is heard and seems untrue or makes no type of since. Just do a little research and find out the truth.

Photos That Lie

The 5 that stood out to me the most are:
Katie Couric
Oprah
OJ Simpson
Shark Attack
Ann richards

The one that stood out the most to me was the one of Oprah. It stood out because Oprahs head was put on another persons body. And their making seem as if Oprahs reallly that small. Its not a real person its somebody that they made up.

Violence in the Media

Provide at least three detailed examples of how media violence (games, newspaper reports, advertising, movies, lyrics, internet, TV news) is played out in real life. In other words, what is the impact of media violence on our daily lives?

Violent video games impact us everyday. For example, if a little boy sees on the video game he can kill and hurt people without getting into problem he'll try that in real life.
